It's a New Day of Churches working together...Growing Toward the Harvest

During the 2008 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering campaign, then president, Jerry Rankin is quoted here in part..."you have been empowered by God to guide your church to Great Commission obedience.  I've often said that missions isn't the responsibility of the IMB -- it belongs to the church."

Pastor's Retreat for Pastor/Spouse

The Powell/Warren Mountain House is a gift to NC Baptist from Don & Mary Ann Warren in honor of their parents Bluford and Madie Powell and Curtis and Grace Warren.

The purpose for the "Mountain House" is to provide a clean, comfortable respite for ministers of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina to use for prayer, Bible study, sermon preparation, and rest.

It is a one bedroom, one bath facility that rests high on the side of the Long Arm Ridge with beautiful views of the rolling hills of central North Carolina.  While a spouse would be welcome to accompany the minister, the house is not designed with families in mind.  There are no sleeping quarters for children.  The house has a small equipped kitchen and a living room.  It also has wireless internet anda Bose music system.

A complimentary stay of three nights, including meals at the Conference Center when they are being served, can be reserved up to a year in advance by contacting the conference center office.  Two additional nights can be added at a small cost, for a maximum stay of five nights.

For reservations contact Caraway at (336) 629-2374 or emailing Rose at rskipper(at)caraway.org.  For additional information go to www.caraway.org

Available Pastoral Resources

Building Church Leaders is a tool that has connections with loads of resources to help pastors, to help build church leaders, etc.  Some are free, but there is a small fee associated with the site itself.

Rick Hughes is the Senior Consultant for Discipleship for the Baptist State Convention of NC and he is helping you 'move your church from survival, through success, to significance.'

The SERIOUS DISCIPLE podcasts came about through the Pastor’s Disciple-making Network. This is a group of pastors across North Carolina who meet, via teleconference line, to personally connect with key thought leaders across modern evangelical life. The goal of the network is to generate dialogue around issues impacting the church today.  Well-known leaders such as Thom Rainer, Dallas Willard, Frank Page, Gordon MacDonald, Mark Dever, Eric Geiger and others, have conducted teleclasses with the Pastor’s Disciple-making Network.

Are you bone-tired and uncertain if there is a “next step” left in you? A little haven exists in the mountains of North Carolina that is dedicated to providing a safe place of respite and refuge to the weary soul. It is a peaceful place where the fire of vision and inspiration can be rekindled and the spirit re-energized…a place where foundations of faith can be strengthened. A stay at The Retreat at Parsons Hill in Lansing, NC, might help you reconnect to what and Who is most important.

The Retreat is offered free of charge. Our only requirement is that you be referred in some way by your church, a ministry group, a Christian counselor, etc. How can we offer this at no cost? We trust that people will contribute to this ministry if and when they are able, and as God blesses them to. This will enable them to work alongside us to continue His work, building up and equipping His people. Our desire is that this property, which He has so graciously allowed us to care-take, will be used for teaching, healing, and in whatever way He chooses.

We have accommodations at present for up to 9 persons overnight, utilizing Priscilla’s Place, The Upper Room, and the guest room in the Host’s home. (This will increase to 14 in the near future.) If used for a day retreat only, we can accommodate 14 right now.

Who would use The Retreat at Parsons Hill?:

  • Small Groups – for Retreats (overnight or just for the day)
  • A Couple – for some much-needed time away
  • A Pastor and his Wife – A thoughtful gift from a loving congregation!?
  • Visiting Speakers, Ministers, Missionaries
  • Godly Teachers looking for an intimate setting for a specific topical teaching / series
  • Individuals – desiring some real quiet time – time alone with God!

If you would like more information about The Retreat at Parsons Hill, please contact Debbie Richardson at 336-384-3605 or email her at glitch529(at)hotmail.com. (Please put RETREAT INFO in the subject line.) Schedule your time at The Retreat during the coming months while there is still room on the calendar!
